"Low maintenance costs, savings on fuel, but also the driving qualities and comfort for passengers and drivers now make the switch to electric transport viable."
“We really believe the transition to electric transport is possible today, and we have been proving it for over two years now with two electric buses of Ebusco.”
I’m Olivier Van Mullem, CEO of Multiobus. We are a group of companies active in the field of passenger transport. We have 100 public buses and around 30 coaches, and operate throughout Belgium, but mainly in Flanders, in the Brabant region.
We have been using Ebusco electric buses for a number of years now, because we believe our entire sector should be making the transition to electric transport.
We are something of a pioneer, but we really believe this is possible today, and we have been proving it for over two years now.
In 2018 we started using two Ebusco buses for regular public transport services, and they are doing more than adequately, so to speak. In fact they are doing so well that we have ordered another ten.
From 2021 onwards there will be ten more electric public buses from Ebusco operating here in Brabant. Of course we don’t just look at the short term, because in the short term they’re fairly expensive compared to a diesel bus, but in the long term the TCO definitely favours electric buses.
Low maintenance costs, savings on fuel, but also the driving qualities and comfort for passengers and drivers now make the switch to electric transport viable.
The Ebusco buses with large batteries are replacing our diesel buses one-for-one, and we will continue to do that for the next 10 years, so that in 10 years’ time we will have electrified more or less our entire fleet of 100 vehicles.
These electric buses are charged in our own depot. This is done using our solar installation comprising about 800 solar panels, also thanks to Tesla power packs which allow us to store this electrical energy. As a result, our vehicles can be charged overnight at very reasonable cost. We believe in this technology and are convinced that it will continue to evolve in the coming years, and we look forward to getting the next 10 electric Ebuscos!
